Alexander M. Hecker

Alexander Hecker practices corporate, securities, intellectual property, and licensing law in the firm’s Emerging Companies and Business practice groups.

Alex’s practice has a particular emphasis on matters of intellectual property and technology licensing. Alex has prepared software license agreements, including software as a service agreements and end user license agreements. He has negotiated and drafted patent licensing agreements between startup technology companies and major public universities. He has prepared terms of use and privacy policies for a variety of different clients, ranging from medication therapy management to social media.

Alex is experienced in the prosecution, maintenance, and enforcement of trademarks, copyrights, and other intellectual property rights. Alex is the attorney of record on over forty trademark applications and registrations and has litigated opposition proceedings before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board.

Additionally, Alex counsels clients in a broad range of business and financing transactions and mergers and acquisitions.

Prior to joining McNaul in 2016, Alex worked with his father, an adjunct professor of Law and Entrepreneurship at the University of Arizona James E. Rogers College of Law, in Tucson, AZ.

In his free time, Alex enjoys playing jazz and rock guitar, spending time with his dog, and fly fishing.
