Biography
A founding member of McNaul Ebel Nawrot & Helgren PLLC, Mike Helgren was a respected, proven trial attorney who specialized in product and lender liability, professional malpractice, civil rights, health care, personal injury, insurance coverage, employment discrimination, maritime law, and director and officer liability, as well as commercial, trust, and estate disputes.
Mike represented both plaintiffs and defendants in high-profile cases involving a wide range of entities and clients. He represented the cities of Seattle and Bellevue, technology and intellectual property ventures, business executives, financial institutions, motion picture distributors, natural resource companies, telecommunications companies, recyclers, and insurance companies, among many others.
He brought extensive experience to matters involving product defects, employment disputes and severance agreements, major fire losses, trust and business valuation, shareholder rights, fiduciary duties, antitrust, and healthcare fraud. In addition, Mike devoted significant time to handling class-action litigation.
Following law school, Mike clerked for Justice Robert F. Utter of the Washington State Supreme Court from 1980 to 1981. He entered private practice in 1981 with the firm of Culp Dwyer Guterson & Grader, where he remained until 1995, when he became a founding member of McNaul Ebel.
In addition to his practice, Mike wrote numerous papers for and made many presentations to the legal community. He also served on the boards of various social service and arts organizations in Seattle and beyond.
