Leslie
Hagin
Leslie Hagin is a trial and
appellate attorney with McNaul. Her practice emphasizes
state and federal investigations and litigation in the
areas of criminal defense, employment law, intellectual
property and commercial law.
In addition to her extensive
litigation practice, Ms. Hagin has testified before
Congress and had several articles published on criminal
litigation, civil litigation, and intellectual property
issues. She has also made numerous media appearances
as a legal analyst, including on CNN's "Burden
of Proof" and NPR's "Talk of the Nation."
Her articles have been cited in judicial opinions as
well as a copyright law textbook, and she is the recipient
of a national award from the American Society of Composers,
Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) for an article on international
copyright piracy.
Ms. Hagin received her B.A.
with honors from Austin College in 1988, and her law
degree from the University of Texas in 1991. During
law school she served as Michael E. Tigar's research
assistant, and edited the American Journal of Criminal
Law. After law school, Ms. Hagin clerked for Judge Robert
M. Parker at both the federal trial court and appellate
court levels. She went on to serve in Washington D.C.
as Counsel to the U. S. House Judiciary Committee, where
she worked on economic and commercial law issues, particularly
antitrust matters, including those surrounding the high-profile
major league baseball shutdown and labor/ ownership
dispute in 1994. She also spent four years in Washington,
D.C. as legislative counsel to the National Association
of Criminal Defense Lawyers. In that capacity, she was
the advocate and negotiator for all national legislation
before Congress, the executive branch and the national
media, affecting the rights of the accused. Ms. Hagin
joined McNaul in 1999 and became a member in 2006.
Ms. Hagin has served for many
years on the Board of Directors of the National Association
of Criminal Defense Lawyers. She is also a supporting
member of the Northwest Women's Law Center, which works
to advance the legal rights of women.
